Teddy bear care tips - tips for handling teddy bears

Did you ever feel your teddy bear is looking old or is not so clean. And you are afraid to clean your teddy bear your self or get it dry cleaned from nearby store because its gift from someone very special and you don't want to risk the cleaning as it can change the looks or may cause some harm to the teddy bear. Below are some teddy bear cleaning tips so that you don't end up with a whole new look of your teddy bear.

• Wipe your teddy bear with a damp cloth without using any soap. Use gentle hands to Wipe down carefully.
• If you want you can also use some hand held vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt on the surface of teddy bear.
• Be careful while cleaning your stuffed toys in washing machines and make sure your carefully read the washing instructions. Please not that not all teddy bears are machine washable so you need to be extra cautious while using machines for cleaning teddy bears.
• Air dry your teddy as sun drying may cause fading of colors.

• Vintage teddy bears are made of wool mohair.
  
• Before World War 1 Teddy bears had boot-button eyes.
  
  
• Glass eyes were first used in 1920's
  
  
• Plastic eyes were first used in 1950's.
  
  
• Vintage teddy bear noses were usually sewn with silk thread.
  
  
• 
  Vintage teddy bear paw pads were generally made from old felt.
  
  
• Early teddy bears were stuffed with hairs from the seed of the silk-cotton and wool commonly known as factory waste.
  
  
• Earlier teddy bears resembled real bears and were less cute looking as of now.
  
  
• In early 1930's velvet was used for foot pads, later foot pads wer being made of leather or plush and plastic also.
